Mick McGahey
Article Abstract:
Miner and trade unionist Mick McGahey left school at the age of 14 and immediately started work as a miner. He joined the National Union of Miners and the Communist Party at an early age, and by 1966 was a full-time union official. One of his most significant achievements was the provision of pithead baths and laundry services. He gained great respect for his loyalty and integrity, but never became Pres of the National Union of Miners, a great disappointment to those who knew him.
