Moving the goalposts at Pristina FC
Article Abstract:
Ethnic Albanians living in Kosovo, Yugoslavia, were forced out of their jobs in 1990 if they were not willing to sign a loyalty oath to the Serbian state. Many are now demanding their old jobs back while the Serbs flee Kosovo in large numbers. The ethnic Albanian players in Pristina FC refused to sign a loyalty oath, and were therefore banned from playing. They have now been able to return to their stadium, but it will be some time before they are ready to play a proper match.

Season of hell in Burma junta's jail
Article Abstract:
The military regime in Burma has made the unexpected decision to release Briton James Mawdsley from the infamous Insein prison in central Rangoon after only three months. He had been sentenced to five years for illegal entry into Burma. He will now be deported for the second time since summer 1997. Human rights group Amnesty International has called for the international community to support the Burmese people as the situation there appears to worsen.
