Mum, I need this monster
Article Abstract:
Toy manufacturer Hasbro has developed a range of 150 pocket monsters based on the computer game Pokemon. The characters are distributed across several different toy types, including Beanie babies and battery-operated figurines. The Pokemon craze is already firmly established in Japan and the US, and these toys are expected to be equally popular among British children when they are launched in the UK in Oct 1999. Only 25 of the characters will be released before Christmas 1999, followed by 39 in Jan 2000.

But it's only a game...
Article Abstract:
The British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) believes that SCi's video game 'Carmageddon 2: Carpocalypse Now,' in which the player is encouraged to knock over pedestrians and shunt opponents off the road, could be damaging to children. SCi disputes this view, and is taking legal action against the BBFC. This case could have significant implications for the censorship of video games. SCi points out that it is requesting an 18 certificate for the game, which is clearly aimed at adults.

Toys for the boys
Article Abstract:
Many adults have a secret desire to purchase a toy they greatly wished to own as a child but never did. Some original toys from the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s can be extremely expensive to purchase, but many people feel that the investment is worthwhile. When considering purchasing an antique toy, it is worth buying one you feel you will really be able to play with and enjoy, rather than simply putting it away somewhere and never really getting full enjoyment from it.
