Music from beyond the grave
Article Abstract:
Jonathan Harvey first considered music as a key to some higher reality when singing in Elgar's Dream of Gerontius and since then he has progressed far from simple Christian ideals to the mystic world of Buddhism, Vedic thought and transcendental meditation. His works have for a long time been woven with songs of love, death and resurrection. He stresses however that the visions he conjures up are images of beauty rather than articles of faith. Although he has never been near to death he believes he has had many intuitions.

Under the influence
Article Abstract:
Tenor Graham Clark was head of sport at Doncaster sixth-form college befor he decided to pursue a singing career. He was in the chorus in the York Festival in 1973. Two years later he was offered three contracts. Although he enjoyed Italian opera he felt a lack of dramatic stimulus in the roles. He therefore focussed on German and Slav character tenor roles. Many of these characters are obsessed. He portrays the drunken Major Broucek in 'The Adventures of Mr Broucek.'
