My father, the revolutionary
Article Abstract:
Those who were associated with the short-lived government of liberal politician Shahpur Bakhtiar in Iran in 1979 were forced into exile. A number have been assassinated, and some have been attacked. It has proved impossible for them to return to Iran. They have found this situation very difficult to accept, particularly the fact that their children will never really know what life in Iran is like. Now, some of the children of the exiles of the Iranian revolution do visit Iran, but others still avoid Iran for fear of being drafted into the Iranian army for military service.

'We must redefine Jewishness.' (Jews become assimilated into United Kingdom society)
Article Abstract:
The number of Jews in the UK fell to 285,000 in 1995, from 308,000 in 1985 and 450,000 in 1950. Observers believe that the main reason for the decline in the Jewish population is assimilation, with many people who were born Jews simply drifting away from the faith or marrying non-Jews. Rabbi Jonathan Romain believes that British Jewry can only protect itself if it is willing to recognize that many Jews are atheists or agnostics and will remain so.
