Never mind Oxfam, DHL can deliver
Article Abstract:
It is now becoming recognised that private companies such as DHL could deliver aid more cheaply to poor nations than charities such as Save The Children and the United Nations. This could cast a shadow over the future of charitable work in this area. Those who work for charities are very concerned about this trend, feeling that charities are involved with issues of ethics, life and death, and that the desire to make a profit should not be part of this. It is clear that aid agencies must become more efficient, reducing their costs and delivering a better product to those who need it most.

The great apes in West Africa are being wiped out by the activities of logging firms
Article Abstract:
Over 4,000 chimpanzees and 2,000 gorillas die annually as a result of logging in central and west Africa. Logging leads to the construction of roads, and the entry of hunters who kill apes for food. Apes were previously part of the diet of pygmy tribes, but logging has attracted hunters who export the meat of apes. The logging industry argues that it is not responsible for this trade. Public pressure has led the European timber industry to ask companies operating in Africa about their environmental policies.
