Oh, southern England, hot hectares of sunflowers under an azure sky
Article Abstract:
Many scientists have been warning for some time that global warming will lead to extreme weather conditions in both winter and summer, thus making some parts of the world virtually uninhabitable. In the UK, it is possible that large coastal areas will become permanently submerged as seas rise, while the south of the country in particular will take on a prairie-like appearance, with enormous areas of crops which it had not previously been possible to grow there. It could be that London will be abandoned in favour of cities further north, such as Manchester.

Article Abstract:
The Communists continue to dominate politics in the Indian state of West Bengal. The state's chief minister, Jyoti Basu, is the longest serving chief minister in India. His influence has been seen particularly clearly in Calcutta, India, where there are still significant social and infrastructure problems but where great improvements have been made. Basu has gained a reputation for being incorruptible, and has been able to attract large sums in foreign investment.
