Once more, with feeling
Article Abstract:
Radically rewriting a high-profile musical can be very risky, according to Cameron Mackintosh, producer of the Boublil/Schonberg musical 'Martin Guerre.' The first version attracted considerable criticism, and the second version, which is to open shortly, shows much greater dramatic coherence and integrity. The new version makes the psychology of each situation more convincing, and features new lyrics and a revised ordering of the material.

Space: the final frontier
Article Abstract:
It is vital not to take a rigid approach to theatre shape, according to director Deborah Warner. She is very keen to use non-theatrical sites, and has gained a reputation for exploiting the evocative power of buildings. Her choice of unusual locations has attracted some controversy, but she remains determined to flout normal theatrical convention. Her most recent project is a production of TS Eliot's 'The Waste Land.'
