PM blames civil war on the old guard
Article Abstract:
Algeria's current political and social problems are the result of mistakes made by the country's old guard, particularly allowing the formation of many small political parties, according to prime minister Mokdad Sifi. He believes that it is vital that any peace agreement to end the country's civil war contains a condemnation of terrorism as well as simply renouncing violence, and this is why the government recently rejected peace proposals put forward by political parties. He insists that elections will take place soon, and that ordinary people should trust president Liamine Zeroual.
