Passage to India (no backpack required)
Article Abstract:
It is possible to spend three weeks travelling in south India during the British winter for around 750 pounds sterling. This itinerary begins with a flight to Trivandrum, India, followed by a taxi or auto-rickshaw journey to Varkala, India, an extremely attractive place where the best accommodation is the Government Guest House. After around a week, visitors may wish to move on by train to Kollam, India, from where they can travel by train to the temple town of Madurai, India. After a few days, take a bus to Kodaikanal, India, a former hill station where visitors can take many interesting walks.

Cornish cream
Article Abstract:
The village of Polruan, Cornwall, England, is centred around a large number of stone cottages divided up by narrow streets. It attracts many visitors, but manages to retain a distinct character. It has an attractive harbour overlooking the Fowey estuary, from where it is easy to reach the town of Fowey by passenger ferry. It once had a thriving fishing industry, and there are still some fishermen left. The village is particularly good as a starting point for beautiful walks.
