Alberto Sartoris
Article Abstract:
Architect, critic, journalist and draughtsman Alberto Sartoris received a technical education in Switzerland. This produced affinities with Le Corbusier. He returned to his native Turin, Italy, as an adult, but was unable to really fit in there. He regarded himself as an exile, and saw the purpose of modernism as being to rediscover and purify ancient, universal concepts of beauty. His extremely influential 'Gli Elementi dell'Architettura Funzionale' was published in 1931.
