The amount of news offered in the United Kingdom media has increased inthe three years to 1997, but the coverage of international news has decreased. One reason that people may not want to know about news from Africa is that it tends to be very depressing, and there is a case for reporting more positive aspects of African life. The British Broadcasting Corp has considers using celebrities to increase the popularity of internetional news. Events in Africa affect the UK, and we should be aware of them.
