Professor Joseph Sandler

Psychoanalyst Joseph Sandler matriculated at 15 and gained his first degree in psychology from the University of Cape Town, South Africa, in 1945. He obtained his Master's in 1946, and then came to the UK to undertake doctoral studies with Sir Cyril Burt at University College, London, England. He was elected Fellow of the Institute of Statisticians and the British Psychological Society in 1957. He gained his PhD in 1950 and undertook medical training at University College Hospital. He also became a qualified analyst of the British Psycho-Analytical Society in 1952.

Professor D.N. MacKenzie
Article Abstract:
Linguist David MacKenzie was born in London, England, in 1926. He enlisted as a 'boy soldier' in 1943, and studied the Iranian family of languages while serving in the North-West Frontier Province in India. He studied Persian at the School of Oriental and African Studies in London, England, and was appointed Lecturer in Kurdish there in 1955.

Professor Joseph Greenberg

Linguist Joseph Greenberg was born in New York, NY, in 1915. He showed a talent for languages from an early age, and gained his PhD from Northwestern University in 1940. His early career focused on the classification of the languages of Africa into four broad groups.
