It is not important that some customers do not buy anything, according to Joie Readman, owner of the Joie clothing store in London, England, which specializes in 1970s styles. She wants people to be able to wear her clothes, and for this reason keeps her prices low. She does not wish to be seen as too fashionable, and is willing to make clothes to suit individual tastes. She is particularly attracted to glamour, and wants to offer people unique clothing.

An exhibition entitled 'The Shape of the Century: 100 years of Sculpture in Britain' is being staged in Salisbury, England, until Aug 19, 1999. There are 86 sculptures by 54 artists located informally around the city, in places including pedestrian precincts and the library. Lynn Chadwick's 'Beast Alerted' is being shown in Queen Elizabeth Gardens, while Robert Adams' 'Apocalyptic Figures' can be found between the pillars in the cathedral nave.
