Relaxing in another dimension
Article Abstract:
Jigsaw puzzles offer a very satisfying way of relaxing, especially if they are of the three-dimensional variety. They give a sense of achievement, and allow people to work effectively together. Three-dimensional puzzles are extremely complex, and therefore allow everyday worries to be forgotten. Puzzles must be completed gradually, and are thus very good for teaching children to be patient. People of all ages can benefit from an activity which encourages appreciation of the pleasures of delayed reward.

Load of old dholaks
Article Abstract:
Multi-percussionist Pete Lockett is keen to create new contrasts between sounds and rhythms from different cultures. He is very interested in the origins of complex rhythms, and feels that it is important to adapt to the rhythmic language of different instruments. He often uses an Indian style of drumming which does not split rhythm up into bars. He has a large collection of instruments, including dholak, Indian and Egyptian tablas, udu and bodhran.
