Russia agrees to leave Milosevic high and dry
Article Abstract:
It has been agreed at the summit of the world's leading industrial countries in Cologne, Germany, that economic assistance will be granted to Yugoslavia only after it becomes democratic and President Slobodan Milosevic has been removed from power. It has been clearly implied that stability in the Balkan region will not be achieved until after Milosevic's departure. Russia is giving open support to the international criminal tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, which has indicted Milosevic for war crimes.

Clinton and Kohl celebrate airlift miracle
Article Abstract:
President Bill Clinton has travelled to Berlin, Germany, to link with German Chancellor Helmut Kohl to mark the 50th anniversary of the airlift that supplied the people of Berlin when road routes to the city were blocked by the Soviet Union. Kohl paid tribute to the great risks taken by US airmen to secure the city's survival. Little attention was given to the part played by other heroes in the airlift, particularly British airmen.
