Sarajevo: a resolution
Article Abstract:
Composer Nigel Osborne recently undertook the dangerous journey to Sarajevo, finding a destroyed city where morale is very low, there is little water and people live in fear of gas explosions. He work with some local people to hold a series of creative workshops for children who have become mature beyond their years as a result of their experiences. He found that ordinary people have retained their dignity and honesty and that they are determined to stick to what they regard as the true way forwards.

In Sarajevo, each day of peace is a bonus
Article Abstract:
The city of Sarajevo has changed dramatically since the signing of the peace agreement in Dec 1995. Ordinary people have seen vast improvements in their way of life, being able to return to their apartments and no longer having to suffer shortages of electricity, gas or water. There are now many people on the streets, and the shops are full of items for sale. People are simply glad to be alive, and greatly appreciate being able to spend time with family and friends.

'They shoot at us, they want to drive us mad.' (diary of a resident of Sarajevo)
Article Abstract:
The ordinary residents of Sarajevo have to endure very harsh conditions. They spend many hours hiding in cellars when shelling is taking place, and often risk their lives when they go about their daily tasks. There are still some goods in the shops, but they can only be purchased with German marks obtained on the black market. Children cannot attend school, and there are oftens shortages of water and electricity.
