Secret of why the Mafia has never shot a soul
Article Abstract:
There has traditionally been a code of silence surrounding Mafia activity in Sicily. However, extensive Mafia activity in the 1980s and early 1990s, followed by a police crackdown, have made it much more difficult to deny the existence of the Mafia. Ordinary people now use the word 'Mafia' openly, and the Mafia is in effect no longer a secret organization. However, Sicilians are still very unwilling to acknowledge that they are living among organized crime.
