Secret passions of a republican mole
Article Abstract:
Sue Townsend, author of 'The Diary of Adrian Mole' the best-selling book of the 80's which made her a millionaire, still lives near Leicester, where she grew up. She finished school without any qualifications at the age of 15, although she was always an avid reader. She wrote in secret for years, believing her work was not good enough. She undertook meticulous research for 'The Queen and I.' She learnt about people in her work as an adventure playground worker on squalid estates and as a community worker on a tower block estate.

An awfully big adventure
Article Abstract:
Former Army officer Charles Blackmore had many strange experiences when leading an Anglo-Chinese expedition across the Taklamakan desert in western China, one of the last unexplored places on earth. The route chosen had never been used before, and it took 59 days to cross the 800 miles from west to east. The participants had to suffer extremes of temperature, illness and severe thirst and dehydration, but felt that they generally managed very well.

Rape and the feminist bigot
Article Abstract:
Feminists always assume that men accused of rape are guilty, but there may be women who make false claims of rape. Until recently, women were thought to be hysterical when they accused men of rape, but now the situation is reversed especially after the recent notorious cases of Mike Tyson and William Kennedy Smith. Some immature women, or those seeking fame or revenge may still make accusations of rape against innocent men.
