Sex row families' years of 'hell and injustice.' (court rules that eight Ayrshire children taken from their families after allegations of ritual sex abuse should be returned)
Article Abstract:
The Court of Session in Edinburgh has ruled that eight children who were removed from their families in 1990 following allegations of ritual sex abuse should be returned. The parents concerned have been very critical of the social workers whose investigations led to the initial care orders being enforced, stating that they had been led to believe that their children would be returned after only a few days. This case is one of several in which allegations of sex abuse have turned out to be unfounded.

Lockerbie: an unsolved case of murder
Article Abstract:
Some observers believe that a terrorist organisation was responsible for the bombing of Pan Am 103 over Lockerbie in Dec 1988, while others attribute it to a secret service plot. There is not even agreement about the targets of the attack, and extensive investigations of the wreckage have failed to produce any convincing explanations. Further controversy has been caused recently by suggestions that Iran, rather than Libya, was responsible, and experts can still only agree on a few basic facts.

The capture of the tartan hordes
Article Abstract:
The UK's newspaper market has traditionally been clearly divided into two 'national' groups, with the English market being centred on newspapers produced in London and the Scottish market on regional newspapers produced in cities such as Edinburgh and Glasgow. English titles have only had limited sales in Scotland. However, they have recently started to become much more popular in Scotland, and this trend could have a significant impact on the newspaper industry as a whole.
