Two nations, one language: reform
Article Abstract:
There is a growing feeling in the UK that political reform is now necessary. Within this argument, there is a clear economic element, with supporters of reform indicating that it is necessary in order to create strong cities and local authorities and to ensure that an underclass of economic outcasts does not emerge. If no reform takes place, the government will lose the trust of ordinary people and will see a serious reduction in its ability to act.

Is painting dead? or what?
Article Abstract:
Art sharpens individual experience, rather than changing the world, according to art critic Robert Hughes, who is shortly to be seen in a BBC2 series on American art. He believes that art can give pleasure or a sense of tragedy, but it cannot have a direct impact on the objective conditions of politics. Painting will survive for as long as people are interesting in painting and discussing it.
