So you think you know your father ...
Article Abstract:
Recent research indicates that around one birth in 20 is the result of an extra-marital relationship. Women who find themselves pregnant by a man other than their husband or father face the very difficult question of whether to reveal the truth, either to the husband or the child. Some choose to keep the circumstances of the child's conception a secret, believing that the truth will be too hard to bear, while others realise that it may be very damaging for the child to discover the truth accidentally.

Out of Africa: a message ...
Article Abstract:
It is important that men and women have clearly defined roles, according to Malidoma and Sobonfu Some, from the Dagara people in Burkina Faso. They believe that traumatic initiation rites are vital if boys in western society are to make the transition to manhood. They are based in the US, but travel the world running 'traditional initiation workshops,' and have written about their views. Malidoma's own initiation involved undertaking very tough assignments in the wild for six weeks.

Postcards from the hedge
Article Abstract:
It is quite easy for ordinary British people to purchase a small piece of countryside for a relatively modest investment. At present, there are more than 30 areas of forest land for sale, some costing as little as 7,000 pounds sterling. It is also possible to purchase a field or part of a river. People who make such an investment usually do so in order to have a small unspoilt area to which they can escape at weekends from the pressures of working life.
