Arthur Prysock
Article Abstract:
Singer Arthur Prysock joined Buddy Johnson's Walk 'Em Rhythm Orchestra in 1945, and remained with Decca as a solo artist when Johnson left this label in 1952. His career as a solo artist began well, but he never really established a very strong presence. He was unable to replace Billy Eckstine as the leading black ballad singer of the time, and was unwilling to change his style to adapt to the popularity of rock 'n' roll music.
