Speaking up for the right to abortion
Article Abstract:
The majority of British women support the view that women should have the right to choose whether to have an abortion or not. Despite this, the National Abortion Campaign, which promotes free choice on abortion, has an extremely limited budget and receives very little media coverage. In contrast, the Pro-Life Alliance is lavishly funded and is set to put forward 50 election candidates, thus entitling it to a party political broadcast. Those who are pro-choice seem unwilling to talk about this issue publicly, claiming that it is a private matter.

Why the party's not over for the uber-lads
Article Abstract:
Rock group Oasis, which has recently released its third album, remains extremely popular. Its members appeal to ordinary people, and their music is widely enjoyed, despite sometimes being rather banal. However, it is possible to take exception to the fact that the group's members have very narrow aspirations. They do not seem to be interested in ideas, in other types of music or in true experimentation, and seem isolated from rock music which shows a much more innovative approach.

The awful niceness of Daddy Paddy's army
Article Abstract:
The UK Liberal Democrat party has a reputation for being run by people who are extremely polite and caring. This makes it hard for its prominent members to appear to be tough when necessary. The party's recent annual conference had a relaxed, good-natured atmosphere, and sensitive issues were generally avoided. The party is welcoming to people from all backgrounds, and is keen to show support for a wide range of social issues.
