Spanish law does not give parents any right to tell their children to leave the family home, even when they are old enough to care for themselves, according to Maria Gimenez Serrano, who with her husband Mariano Angel Serrano went to court to have their two teenage sons evicted after five years of conflict. She feels that this was the only way to save their marriage, as their sons were driving them apart. She emphasizes that going to court has been good for her sons, making them more respectful.

Gibraltarians are very anxious to be reassured that they will not be abandoned by the UK, especially in the light of the UK's withdrawal from Hong Kong. They are greatly concerned about the prospect of Gibraltar becoming part of Spain, which it would do under the terms of the Treaty of Utrecht of 1713 if the UK were to withdraw. In contrast, Spain maintains its claim to sovereignty over Gibraltar, stating that there are many parallels between Gibraltar's situation and that of Hong Kong.

Leading Spanish female matador Cristina Sanchez has retired, claiming that she could no longer tolerate the anti-female attitude of Spanish men. She was excluded from all the main bullfight festivals, despite having fought hard to establish her credentials. She found that male matadors were unwilling to accept that she could perform better than them, and also encountered negative attitudes from those who felt that women should play no part in killing bulls.
