Storm in an Indian teacup
Article Abstract:
The Ayodhya mosque destruction in India led to much violence which security forces attempt to suppress. The West perceives it as a loss of democracy, but the Bharatiya Janata Party has lost credibility and Hindu-Muslim relations are likely to improve. Indians are flexible in their support for political parties and religious groups. Prime Minister Narasimha Rao recreated political institutions by restoring Nehru-style bargaining and produced 17 months of calm.

Raising a storm on the way to number one
Article Abstract:
Music group Hurricane No.1 was created as a vehicle for Andy Bell, former guitarist in indie band Ride and a close associate of the Creation record label. He has developed some very exciting music with Alex Lowe, who was requested by Creation to audition for the group. The other members are bass player Will Pepper and drummer Gaz. The group deserves to become very successful, but is suffering from the fact that no Creation group can displace Oasis.
