Supermarket's pharmacy fusion

The Quincy, MA-based Stop and Shop Supermarket Co chain has launched a 'whole health' initiative that will provide supermarket shoppers with information and products to promote healthy lifestyles. The pharmacy-based health effort will employ signage to indicate particular food products' healthcare benefits to protect supermarket shoppers' privacy and anonymity regarding their medical conditions. The initiative has been implemented in 137 Stop and Shop sites with pharmacies.

However, he admits that the merger will likely change the competitive landscape for online pharmacies because of the name recognition and clout that CVS will bring into the merged company.
