Preventing and treating osteoporosis
Article Abstract:
Pharmacists have a critical role in the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis. They can instruct patients on how to change risk factors and avoid injuries; advice patients on the possible adverse drug effects, drug interactions and administration guidelines; and provide constant cooperation with doctors treating the patients. Pharmacists can also educate the public on the importance of having calcium in their diet, doing weight-bearing exercises, avoidance of smoking and reducing the risks of falling.
