Pharmacists caught on TV 'playing doctor.'
Article Abstract:
A television expose regarding the illegal dispensing of prescription drugs by some pharmacies in New York, NY, has prompted state agencies to issue a warning letter to all state pharmacists and impose stricter penalties. The expose, which was aired by Channel 7 in May 1999, was a result of a three-month undercover investigation by investigative reporter Jim Hoffer and his crew. The group found that some independents dispense drugs without prescriptions, while others gave out confidential patient drug records without checking the identification of the requesting party.

Blood glucose monitoring keeps getting easier: pharmacists guide diabetes patients on newest testing kits
Article Abstract:
Pharmacists talk about the diabetes home blood testing kits they recommend to patients. One example is Bayer's Glucometer DEX which uses a 10-strip circular cartridge fitted inside the meter. A strip pops out at the press of a button and touched to a blood drop. Other devices include Roche Diagnostic's Accu-Check Voicement for blind or near-blind patients and LifeScan's FastTake monitor which fits in the palm of the hand.
