Thanks, NHS, for a rotten way to die
Article Abstract:
The UK National Health Service seems poorly equipped to care for people who are dying. It focuses on treating people's immediate health problems and sending them home again, and is unable to provide the different sort of care which the elderly require. The elderly often have many different medical problems, and need to be regarded as a whole person, rather than simply a collection of symptoms. In many cases, elderly people are sent from hospital to hospital and their real needs are overlooked or deliberately ignored.
