The Ashcroft affair shows that relying on the rich is bad for politics
Article Abstract:
UK Conservative party leader William Hague should carefully consider whether it is advisable for him to continue supporting party Treasurer Michael Ashcroft, whose business dealings have come under close scrutiny. The Ashcroft case is not necessarily working to the advantage of the Labour party either, as it highlights the issue of party political funding. Within this context, a number of problems must still be addressed, including state funding of political parties and whether there should be a limit on donations to political parties.

Dismay in the lobbies as MP oversteps mark
Article Abstract:
Backbench MPs from all political parties frequently table questions and amendments on behalf of colleagues, but the actions of Sir Jerry Wiggin, who tabled an amendment in the name of Conservative MP Sebastian Coe without telling him, have caused considerable controversy.
