The Hatman suffers exposure
Article Abstract:
Some observers feel that the request by UK Conservative party advisers to agriculture minister Douglas Hogg that he stops wearing hats is a sign that he is soon to be asked to resign from the cabinet. He is well-known for his range of hats, but advisers believe that ordinary people see these as 'eccentric,' and therefore not an appropriate image for a politician. His reputation has already been tarnished by the beef crisis, and he now seems to have been alienated by those handling this situation.

Learning from Clinton, stealing from Thatcher
Article Abstract:
Labour party leader Tony Blair has clearly been influenced by the political ideas of Bill Clinton, and came up with a number of concepts which were new to his party, such as the responsibility of ordinary people to give something back to society, following a trip to the US in 1993. Clinton's views have encouraged Tony Blair to seek to move the party towards a sort of 'social moralism.' He has also built on Conservative ideas of the 1980s, particularly that of strengthening the family unit.
