The bad, sad and crazy movies that mock mental illness
Article Abstract:
Hollywood films present a very unrealistic picture of mental illness, according to Dr Cleo Van Velsen, consultant psychiatrist at the Maudsley Hospital in south London, England. Films generally show the mentally ill as being either incurably violent or as having only very minor problems that can be overcome through love and affection. Similarly, portrayals of psychiatrists are often very unrealistic. Male psychiatrists are shown as eccentric, or even mad, while female psychiatrists are simply waiting to find the right male patient with whom to have a relationship.

In the shadow of Mount Snowdon
Article Abstract:
The Snowdonia region of Wales now attracts large numbers of tourists and appears to be thriving. However, local communities are in fact facing many difficulties. Unemployment is extremely high because local industries have closed down, and young people are being forced to move away to find work. Many shops have shut down, and there is no real sense of community any more. The tourists themselves also create difficulties, as they block roads.
