The links that will revolutionise PCs
Article Abstract:
It is likely that digital audio technology will make it possible to transmit CD-quality radio into the home in the background while the computer user is surfing the Web or e-mailing, according to 3Com Pres and CEO Eric Benhamou. He believes that more rapid Internet access will make computer users reconsider how they use their computers and the way in which computers communicate with each other. He feels that home networking will offer a valuable opportunity for multi-PC households to share files, peripherals and an Internet connection.

The clock is ticking, minister
Article Abstract:
Local and national government in the UK could be extensively affected by the year 2000 computer date change problem. There are strict limitations on spending in the public sector, and this means that the resources required to address the problem may not be available. It is also possible that local and national government may not have sufficient time to address the problem, as priorities are dictated by political developments. There may also be a lack of staff to cope with making the necessary changes to computer systems.

A new era of communication that benefits all
Article Abstract:
The World Wide Web has made the Internet into a mainstream communications and entertainment medium. The Internet is now one of the most rapidly expanding media, and achieved 500,000 subscribers in only five years. Individuals make extensive use of the Internet to gain access to information, but mainly see it as a means of communication. The future success of the Internet will depend mainly on the success of alternatives and on the price of computers.
