The man who wouldn't be king
Article Abstract:
Conductor Sir Colin Davis has been involved during his career with Sadler's Wells, the BBC Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Opera, and is soon to become principal conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra. His conducting style has always been forthright and generous, and he has been greatly influenced by the German traditionalists. He plans to continue to focus on conducting, not being interested in becoming a 'music director' involved in areas such as recruitment and fund-raising.

Macca takes a stepping Stone to yesterday
Article Abstract:
Using a computer to compose music can be a very inspiring experience, according to singer and songwriter Paul McCartney. He has been using computers for some time, most recently for his symphonic poem 'Standing Stone,' which is currently being recorded. This deals with man's enduring humanity, and is also a celebration of record label EMI. It takes some very unusual approaches, but parts of it are also very characteristic of McCartney's music.

Once, Andre Previn made headlines. He even made Madame Tussauds. Now he just makes music. What a relief
Article Abstract:
Conductor and composer Andre Previn attracted considerable media attention when he led the London Symphony Orchestra in 1968-1979. However, his career then seemed to fade, and some observers believed that he had been mistaken in some of the projects in which he had become involved. He is now making a comeback as Conductor Laureate of the London Symphony Orchestra, and has been particularly welcomed in Dresden and Vienna.
