The missiles have gone. The bombers have gone. So why haven't the women of Greenham Common gone with them?
Article Abstract:
The last Cruise missiles were removed from the American air base at Greenham Common, England, in 1991, but the Greenham Common Women's Peace Camp is still in operation. The women who remain there have made a formal proposal for a garden on the site, but do not plan to leave until 2000. They continue to protest against two nearby atomic weapons establishments, and refuse to accept the continued existence of nuclear weapons. They are working with the charitable trust that is now responsible for the redevelopment of the site.

Ask me this but don't mention that
Article Abstract:
Novelist Martin Amis has recently expressed concern about journalists invading his privacy, especially in relation to the failure of his marriage. However, he is also keen to have publicity when it suits his purposes. In adopting this stance, he is emulating many celebrities. They often express concern about media intrusion into their private lives, but are very willing to make use of the media when they need publicity for a particular project.

Go on, leave. They'll survive without you
Article Abstract:
Most full time employees in the UK work at least 40 hours a week, with 28% of men working 48 or more. This is much greater than the European average. Some experts feel that working long hours has a negative impact on productivity, and wish to encourage employees to start leaving work at a reasonable time. For this reason, national Go Home on Time Day has been established.
