There's no going back to the golden age of sport
Article Abstract:
There have been many examples of corruption in sport in 1998. In some cases, whole sports or individual sporting personalities have been brought into severe disrepute. It seems that the increase in corruption in sport is closely linked with the increased opportunity to make large sums of money from sport, often from the proceeds of the sale of television rights or from its related revenue-streams. Sportsmen and -women who become wealthy are not merely content with what they have achieved, but are often motivated to obtain even more money, possibly through corruption.

Vive la France!
Article Abstract:
The French have enjoyed considerable success in sports including football and rugby. Indeed, no other country can currently compare with France in team sports, even though France has traditionally been seen as a nation of individualists. France is still divided over the issue of integrating ethnic minorities from its former colonies, but it seems that, in sport at least, it has come to recognize diversity. In sport, it has succeeded in linking the best of the new with the best of the old.

Racing legends forged on the people's circuit
Article Abstract:
The Silverstone motor racing circuit, which is now to be sold, is very closely associated with the history of motor racing in the UK. It established a particularly strong position from the late 1980s, when its owners entered into a long-term agreement with Bernie Ecclestone, receiving exclusive rights to stage the British Grand Prix. All the most prominent figures in British motor racing, including Jim Clark and Damon Hill, have appeared at the circuit many times.
