Tories head for victory
Article Abstract:
The UK general election of April 9, 1992 produced wild regional swings and variations but the Conservatives have won power for another term although with a significantly reduced majority. Chris Patten, the Conservative party chairman, lost his Bath seat. Foreign Secretary Douglas Hurd said he thought it very unlikely the Conservatives would do any deals with Unionists or anyone else. Liberal Democrat leder said that if Labour could not win an election after a continuous 13 years of Conservative rule had preceded a deep recession, it seemed unlikely they could ever win again.

The man who thinks he can win
Article Abstract:
The UK is to face a lengthy election campaign following the announcement by prime minister John Major that the general election will be held on May 01, 1997. He has called on voters to support the Conservative party as the party of change, rather than switching to the Labour party. This has prompted Labour party leader Tony Blair to reaffirm his belief that the UK would fare better under a Labour government. The Conservative party has suffered a considerable blow as a result of the decision by the Sun newspaper to back the Labour party.

Tony's not for turning
Article Abstract:
UK Prime Minister Tony Blair has made significant progress on very difficult issues during his first year in office. He has gone beyond ideology, and will work with people of many different political views as he seeks to do what is best for the country. This approach has at times brought criticism from traditional Labour party supporters, but this has not made Blair waver from his commitment to create a society based on economic efficiency and social justice.
