Two into one will go
Article Abstract:
There are signs of a new trend in mergers between higher education institutions in the UK. In the past, mergers have generally taken place between very different institutions or have consisted of a very large institution taking over a much smaller one. However, these characteristics do not apply to the planned merger between Bath University, a leading research university, and the University of the West of England, a former polytechnic. This has the potential to widen access to higher education and to create an institution which is strong in both research and teaching.

Higher love is so low
Article Abstract:
Affairs between male staff and female students are common in UK universities and colleges, according to some observers. Universities and colleges lack the will to tackle this issue, even though it is one of academic integrity. They also wish to avoid negative publicity, and therefore prefer to overlook these affairs. In many cases, students have tried to bring complaints about a relationship between one of their peers and a male academic, but their concerns have not been taken seriously.
