US: COLLUSION BY FORD OVER CAR TYRE FLAW?
Article Abstract:
US-based car manufacturer, Ford, may have conspired with Bridgestone/Firestone to hide problems with car tyres fitted to Ford Explorers between 1997-1999, prior to the firms revealing a voluntary recall. It emerged on 6 September 2000 that Bridgestone's US-based Firestone arm had been accumulating information regarding problems even though it had denied this claim previously. The voluntary recall was announced on 9 August 2000 and impacted 6.5mn tyres.
