Sir David Hunt

Diplomat David Hunt gained Firsts in Mods and Greats at Wadham College, Oxford, England. He became a Fellow of Magdalen College, Oxford, in 1937 at the age of 24, but joined the First Battalion of the Welsh Regiment following the outbreak of the second world war. He became Private Secretary to Clement Attlee in 1950. He was posted to Pakistan as Deputy High Commissioner in 1954, and in 1962 went to Kampala, Uganda, as head of mission. His last diplomatic appointment was as Ambassador to Brazil.

Sir Bernard Ledwidge
Article Abstract:
Diplomat and writer Bernard Ledwidge joined the India Office in 1939 as assistant principal. He served in the Indian Army until the end of the second world war, and in 1948 was seconded to the Commonwealth Relations Office. He was then transferred to the Foreign Service. He developed a career as a writer after his retirement from the Diplomatic Service. He gained particular acclaim for his biography of De Gaulle, published in 1982.
