Vote offers no relief for Canada's wound
Article Abstract:
There is growing support for the secessionist movement in Quebec, with people no longer being convinced by federal ministers who claim that separating Quebec from the rest of Canada would bring economic hardship. The separatists are now slightly ahead in the opinion polls, and a yes vote is beginning to look possible. There is particular support for Lucien Bouchard, who has recovered from an almost fatal illness to become one of the leading figures in the secessionist movement.

On the unseasonal death of a pet
Article Abstract:
It is very easy to become greatly removed from reality over the Christmas period. This seems to be particularly the case in the UK, where Christmas is clad in a great deal of myth. However, sometimes things happen that can bring you back into the real world very suddenly. This can be the case with an event such as the death of a pet. It is important to be aware that Christmas can be associated with death as well as with birth.
