War and piste, the Sarajevo story
Article Abstract:
The city of Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina, offers a range of winter sports opportunities. The ski resort of Jahorina, where the women's downhill race was held in the 1984 Winter Olympics, offers limited skiing. The top of the resort is at 1,889 mt, with vertical drops of around 300 mt. The resort has relatively little accommodation. Visitors to Sarajevo may also wish to travel to the ski area at Bjelasnica, where it is possible to go down the 1984 men's downhill course.
