What changes but stays the same?
Article Abstract:
The Corporation of London and the Architecture Foundation have arranged an exhibition, 'City Changes: Architecture in the City of London, 1985-1995' at the Royal Exchange from May 22 - Aug 21 1992. London's Square Mile now has 21 new buildings, some bright and colourful, including the new Liverpool Street station and the Daiwa headquarters. Many innovative and dramatic designs are included, mixing with the medieval city to make a unique area. The street pattern is practically the same as it was before the Great Fire of 1666, as shown in the architectural model at the exhibition made by Piper Models.

Let there be magical light
Article Abstract:
The Royal Academy of Arts in London, England, is staging an exhibition entitled 'John Soane, Master of Light and Space.' Exhibition designer Piers Gough has used low light levels to create pools of light in an approach similar to that of Soane himself. The exhibition includes replicas of the domes at Lincoln's Inn Fields, giving visitors an insight into how Soane used both light and space. It has been possible to achieve axial routes and vistas as attractive as those created by Soane.

Death, where is thy art?
Article Abstract:
The exhibition entitled 'Soane and Death' currently being held at the Dulwich Picture Gallery in London, England, looks at the attitude to death of architect Sir John Soane and at the architecture which he believed should be associated with death. He was certainly very interested in death, and designed many tombs. However, there is no element of the macabre in his designs. Many publications are now devoted to his work, and he is seen as one of the UK's finest architects.
