What gives bishops the right to tell us how to vote?
Article Abstract:
There has been little public awareness of the Catholic Church's doctrine of communitarianism, which has been developing gradually over the 20th century. Bishops are now planning to reverse this situation, and some observers feel that the timing of this campaign is politically motivated. By making people aware of the gradual development of communitarianism, bishops avoid the accusation that their social policy has been drawn up randomly. The Church's policies cannot really be categorised along party-political lines, although it is inevitable that some observers will attempt to do this.

Dark world of Britain's secret foreign policy
Article Abstract:
The recent court case involving arms supplier Ordtech, whose managing director, Paul Grecian, acted as a spy for MI5, MI6 and Special Branch, shed interesting light on various aspects of the UK's foreign policy which normally remain concealed. It shows that Conservative government ministers have begun to believe that the interests of their own party are the same as the nation as a whole, and that they have become arrogant about foreign policy issues. In this case, allowed arms to be supplied secretly to Iraq, and then intervened in the administration of justice.

The secret she won't tell him
Article Abstract:
Therese Muamini has struggled for 12 years to cope with the many problems which arise from the fact that her adoptive son Tshakua, her dead sister's son, was born HIV positive. She has had to fight very hard to obtain the most appropriate medical treatment for him, especially in the early years when very little was known about the condition. She has kept the nature of his illness as secret as possible, hoping in this way to allow him to lead an almost normal life.
