What makes a child a killer?
Article Abstract:
There are a number of reasons why violence has become increasingly common among young men in the US, according to psychologist James Garbarino, professor of human development at Cornell University. He emphasizes in his book 'Lost Boys' that levels of child abuse have been rising. Boys who have been abandoned or abused lose the ability to feel emotions and externalize their pain, attributing their feelings to the actions of others. They also cope with distress through violent action. Other research highlights the extent to which children are drawn to guns.
