Whatever happened to our reedbeds?
Article Abstract:
UK environmental bodies and local authorities are carrying out projects to restore reedbeeds. According to a conservation officer, Rob Andrews, who works for the Norfolk Broads Authority, although some reedbeds are well managed, those which are not cut on a regular basis end up like scrubland and birds disappear, unable to feed off fish there. English Nature, the Broads Authority, the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds and the British Seed Growers Assocation are trying to improve the situation, and the Broads authority is considering uses for cut reeds.

Wanted: Editors. No experience necessary
Article Abstract:
It has become increasingly common for a celebrity to be a guest editor of one issue of a magazine. Elle Decoration, for example, sometimes uses designers such as Terence Conran, while French Vogue has had an issued edited by Nelson Mandela. Some observers criticise this trend, pointing out that celebrities may bring additional publicity for the magazine but that they do not necessarily attract readers.
