When April really is the cruellest month
Article Abstract:
The arrival of spring can be difficult for the one in 20 people in the UK with a tendency to depression. It is uncertain why there are more suicides in spring than at any other time of the year, but it is possible that the change of light has a depressive effect. Doctors now attempt to treat depression through a combination of medical intervention, counselling or cognitive therapy and change in circumstance. Counselling can be very effective, but will never cure a depression with a chemical base.

Suddenly, I was an orphan...
Article Abstract:
According to research, human beings suffer more from the death of their second than their first, as they become parentless and are now part of the older generation. The experience might come at the same time as children leave home, the menopause, or middle age, and makes them aware of they too will not live forever. It is normally the mother who dies second, as women live longer. Her death can give rise to the recollection of numerous memories which had been locked in the past.
