When e-mails trap the careless
Article Abstract:
Electronic mail offers clear benefits in terms of speed and convenience, but can bring significant problems for those who use it unwisely. An electronic mail message differs from a letter in that it is sent immediately, giving the sender no time for second thoughts. It is also important to be aware that electronic mail messages can be stored on a company's computer system and produced later in a court action for libel, sexual harassment or unfair dismissal. It is wise to ensure that electronic mail messages are always formal and businesslike.

Another page in history of conflict with judiciary
Article Abstract:
The UK Court of Appeal has ruled that Michael Howard, UK Home Secretary, was wrong to react to pressure from the public to increase the period of detention for the two boys convicted of the murder of James Bulger, Jon Venables and Robert Thompson. This is the first time that Lord Woolf, Master of the Rolls and Howard have had a dispute. The case will now go to the House of Lords, and possibly to the European Court of Justice, with the likely outcome being that the Home Secretary will no longer be able to fix minimum terms.

He's got millions, but has he got taste?
Article Abstract:
There are no clear definitions in the UK of what constitutes good taste. However, it is widely accepted that showing off your wealth very obviously is not good taste. It is not wrong to spend a lot of money on decorating your home, but it must not appear that you have done so. Prince Jefri of Brunei has taken the opposite approach. He has a number of homes, all of which contain very ostentatious fittings, including solid gold statues.
