The 400,000 UK firms with five employees or more must offer staff the option to participate in a stakeholder pension by Oct 08, 2001. It is clear that many small employers will contravene the law. Furthermore, many employees do not wish to contribute to company pension schemes, and there is no incentive for them to do so.
